We are seeking a dedicated Adult Education Instructor to join our team at Kinexus Group, a dynamic community development organization.

About the Role

The Adult Education Instructor will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and employability skills of participants. This position requires a teacher who is passionate about making a positive impact on their students' lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop personalized learning plans for each participant based on their individual needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction in reading, mathematics, science, and social studies GED concepts.
  • Enroll and assess students as needed, monitoring progress on our online learning platform.
  • Assign practice GED tests and official GED tests, while completing data entry and classroom attendance tasks.
What We Expect from You
  • Build relationships with participants, encouraging and motivating them to achieve their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Adult Education Team to ensure seamless execution of functions.
  • Be available for instruction between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday, with occasional evening hours.
Requirements
  • A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Three years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of experience teaching in alternative education or working with 'at-risk' populations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Language Arts.
  • Experience assigning student work based on assessments and using computer-based learning tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

$65,000 - $75,000 per year (estimated salary range).
