Job Title: Process Innovation Modeling Engineer
The Process Innovation Modeling Engineer will be responsible for conducting innovative process modeling studies, leveraging extensive technical experience in computer science, material science, process engineering, and conceptualizing and leading complex technical efforts.
Job Scope:
The Process Innovation team is part of the Science & Technology department of the Refractory, Abrasives, and Construction business area. It supports process innovation for RAC and may provide expertise for the IMERYS group.
The incumbent will work on the Precize project, focusing on process modeling, and collaborate with other S&T departments, industrial partners (Air Liquide), and universities (CEMTHI, LGC Toulouse). The engineer may be required to work transversally with other Business Areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct literature evaluations to prepare process modeling and propose innovative programs of study.
- Develop relationships with S&T departments and/or universities to acquire physical data/parameters for planned modeling.
- Perform advanced modeling studies in combustion, heat transfer, dissolution, and gas/liquid transfer.
- Participate in industrial/pilot tests to confirm modeling results by performing measurements and feeding back results into the model.
- Challenge suppliers and modeling companies to align with project objectives (technical model choice, parameter assumption, and interpretation).
- Collaborate with the IT department to propose software compatible with scientific needs.
- Some travel in France may be required (less than 5% of the time).
- Support Imerys Safety and Health strategy and contribute to achieving related targets.
- Interpret, evaluate, and communicate research data and results for research projects.
- Participate and coordinate cross-functional teams for complex and new to Imerys projects and technology developments.
- Write research reports to document research results.
- Attend technical conferences and carry out active watch related to the field.
- Perform process engineering modeling.
- Provide lab test plans and execute them.
- Analyze and make scientific assumptions.
- Project and transversal Management: lead a technical team.
- Ph.D. in Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or Material Engineering or related discipline.
- Expertise in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, combustion, kinetics, and/or process engineering.
- Experience in H&M balance for complex systems.
- Experience in advanced modeling for OpenFOAM, Ansys Fluent, and StarCCM+.
- Geometric and mesh design capability for process simulation.
- Knowledge of simulation of multiphase media with heat transfer.
- Knowledge of computational thermodynamics and phase transformations.
- Advanced skills in scripting and tool development in Python.
- Ability to develop simplified models (0D/1D/2D) with 'house code'.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with different functions.
- Fluent French or English knowledge.
- Project Management (Reporting project progress).
