We are seeking a highly experienced Senior HV Cable Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our offshore wind business, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of our electrical equipment, with a focus on high voltage cables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Integrity: Define technical requirements, improvements, and maintenance strategies for electrical equipment, with a focus on high voltage cables, to maximize availability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Support O&M Engineering: Provide assistance and recommendations to ensure delivery of mid-to-large-scale O&M works within time, budget, and quality, following industry best practices and observing health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Identify and Claim Technical Defects: Identify technical defects in electrical equipment, with a focus on high voltage cables, and participate in the claim process with OEMs.
  • Evaluate O&M Solutions: Evaluate O&M solutions and risk levels affecting technical integrity or asset performance and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Assess Technical Issues: Assess technical issues and incidents related to electrical equipment, with a focus on high voltage cables, and perform troubleshooting to determine root causes.
  • Monitor and Supervise Maintenance Activities: Monitor and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities to guarantee wind farm availability.
  • Produce Procedures: Produce necessary procedures to guarantee maintenance activities are fully deployed, implementing offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality requirements.
  • Ensure Documentation: Ensure all assessments, advice, and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with internal procedures and industry best practices.
  • Support Design Reviews: Support design reviews, FAT, and SAT activities for HV & MV cables.
  • Manage Critical Spares: Identify and manage critical spares (cable & accessories) to manage risk exposure.
Regulation and Legal Requirements:
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that applying legal requirements affecting electrical equipment, with a focus on high voltage cables, are completely fulfilled as per conditions defined by local official bodies.
  • Develop HSE Strategy: Work with the HSE team to develop HSE strategy for O&M works and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.
Coordination:
  • Coordinate Activities: Coordinate activities and standardize best practices in the Global O&M Offshore.
  • Extend Lessons Learned: Extend lessons learned and best practices to other Hubs within the O&M Offshore Business.
  • Coordinate Maintenance Strategies: Coordinate maintenance strategies for electrical systems with other Offshore O&M Hubs.
  • Coordinate Execution of Maintenance Activities: Coordinate the execution of maintenance activities with local Iberdrola Site staff.
  • Define Solutions for New Wind Farm Projects: Define solutions for new wind farm projects, alongside the project team and Principal Manager for Transmission Equipment in Operations Engineering.
  • Coordinate Electrical Equipment Maintenance Strategy: Coordinate the electrical equipment maintenance strategy with other Hubs within the Global Offshore O&M Business.
  • Manage Personnel: Manage personnel under self-remit, identify their training needs, and put in place necessary actions to fulfill those gaps.
  • Interact with Global Technical Services: Interact with Global Technical Services, OEM, Offshore Site teams, grid operators, certifiers, and regulatory bodies to deploy highest efficient and technical capability relationship.
Contract and Procurement:
  • Provide Input on Bid Levels: Provide input on appropriate bid levels/commercial strategies and commercial agreements relative to projects.
  • Produce Technical Specifications: Produce technical specifications (scope of works) and technical evaluations of bidders as required.
  • Manage Maintenance Contracts: Manage effectively assigned maintenance contracts, contributing to maximize financial business results through reduction of operating costs and execution of high-quality maintenance activities.
Experience and Skills:
  • Considerable Experience: Considerable experience in HVAC & HVDC cables design or manufacturing (particularly subsea cables).
  • Experience in Contracting: Experience of contracting, engineering design, or delivery.
  • HV Cable Installation: Experience in HV cable installation, testing, and maintenance (subsea and above sea inspections).
  • Experience in HV Joints/Terminations: Experience in HV joints/termination and connections.
  • Renewables/O&G/Marine Experience: Renewables/O&G/Marine experience.
  • Track Record in Operation and Maintenance Delivery: Some track record in operation and maintenance delivery.
  • Engineering Industry Experience: Engineering industry, academia, or consultancy experience.
  • Global Team Experience: Part of global teams for multitask, international projects.
  • Contract Management Experience: Management of contract.
  • Offshore Wind Farm Experience: Working on offshore wind farms.
  • Desirable Knowledge: Desirable knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation associated with marine/offshore operations projects.
  • Fluent English: Fluent English.
