About the Role
Vélizy-Villacoublay is seeking a highly motivated and organized Librarian Assistant to join our team in the Adult Sector. As a key member of our library team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing the adult collection, and participating in various cultural and educational programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons, answering questions and assisting with research and borrowing.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the adult collection, including fiction and non-fiction materials.
- Participate in the development and implementation of programs and services for adults, including author talks, book clubs, and other events.
- Collection Management
- Assist in the acquisition, processing, and maintenance of adult materials, including books, audiobooks, and digital resources.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the adult collection, including fiction and non-fiction materials.
- Participate in the development and implementation of collection development policies and procedures.
- Programs and Services
- Develop and implement programs and services for adults, including author talks, book clubs, and other events.
- Collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement programs and services for adults.
- Participate in the evaluation and assessment of programs and services for adults.
- Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Director or other library staff.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in library services.
Requirements
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in library science or related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in a library setting, preferably in adult services.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Working Conditions
- Work Schedule
- 38 hours per week, Monday through Saturday.
