Role Overview:
We are seeking a Product Assurance and Safety Engineer to provide integrated support to the Product Assurance and Safety office, specifically within ESA Programs and activities at the Directorate of Space Transportation. In collaboration with project ESA PA&Safety Managers (PAM) and other PA and RAMS officers, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Establishing the PA&S requirements baseline for designated project elements, ensuring compliance with ESA's overarching Product Assurance and Safety policy.
- Developing and executing ESA project PA&S plans.
- Verifying adherence to PA&S requirements and demonstrating the application of Management Specifications in line with applicable PA & management regulations.
- Reviewing contractors' plans and specifications to evaluate their performance and effectiveness, ensuring PA&S requirements are addressed throughout the contractual chain, and recommending necessary preventive and corrective actions.
- Assessing contractor implementation of PA&S requirements during program/project reviews (PRRs, PDRs, CDRs, QR, KPs) and managing related actions and recommendations. Monthly reports will be produced detailing assessment activities conducted.
- Supporting project development reviews, including organizing documentation key points, participating in project reviews as a Quality animator, and contributing to design and safety reviews, as well as preventive/corrective action activities.
- Monitoring project and PA status, identifying relevant PA issues, and systematically tracking all items, including NCR/Waivers/Problems/Critical Items. Monthly reports will summarize monitoring activities, including conclusions and recommendations.
- Managing NCR/Waivers/Problems/Critical Items, including producing meeting agendas, ensuring all necessary inputs are available, and following up on identified actions. Reports on control activities will also be generated.
- Guiding and overseeing the application and procurement of EEE parts, materials, and processes, participating in the Material and Process Control Board (MPCB) and Electronic Component Evaluation Board (ECEB).
- Potentially managing project RAMS activities and contributing to safety documentation as required.
- Monitoring manufacturing, integration, and testing activities through quality assurance audits, mandatory inspections, and configuration inspections, with reports produced on activities performed.
- Assisting in defining formal acceptance requirements and conducting Acceptance Reviews of all contractual deliverables, ensuring necessary follow-up.
- Coordinating quality inquiries with the support of the Project Technical Office and PA&S Office as needed.
- Arranging and coordinating support from Directorate of Technology, Engineering, and Quality experts within PA&S responsibilities.
- Ensuring the implementation of software PA requirements with appropriate software PA support.
- Additional tasks in the PA/S domain may arise based on project needs, which may involve frequent missions across Europe.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in a relevant engineering field with a minimum of 4 years of pertinent experience.
- Extensive experience in PA&S disciplines as applied in space projects.
- Familiarity with technical domains, such as launcher and spacecraft technologies.
- Insight into related technologies, R&D trends, and the industrial landscape.
- Experience in managing and monitoring industrial activities, including participation in reviews.
- Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 is advantageous.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and French.

The candidate must be eligible for EU security clearance.
