Position Overview:
The role of the Field Applications Engineer (FAE) is pivotal in providing both pre-sales and post-sales support for MACOM's European semiconductor center. Responsibilities during the pre-sales phase include securing design wins with MACOM products, delivering compelling technical presentations, showcasing MACOM technology, addressing technical inquiries, and assisting in formulating a successful product pitch. In the post-sales phase, the FAE will engage in hardware and software design support, laboratory debugging, training, and ensuring a seamless transition to volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular visits to current and prospective customers.
- Identify opportunities for new designs and product upselling.
- Align customer design specifications with MACOM products and technologies.
- Provide insights and guidance for customer proposals.
- Demonstrate technology using MACOM evaluation boards and reference designs.
- Assist customers with architectural, schematic, and layout tasks during the design phase.
- Develop the product validation environment, encompassing both hardware and software.
- Validate products in their end applications and prepare validation reports.
- Collaborate closely with the broader product development team.
- Create collateral materials such as application notes, product presentations, and publications.
- Deliver training to the sales and marketing teams.
- Provide customer and field support for both new and existing products.
- Offer on-site assistance to swiftly diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues during design bring-up and debugging.
- Educate customers and distributor FAEs on the advantages and features of MACOM products.
- Act as an advocate for MACOM products and technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or PhD in Electronic Engineering.
- Expertise in semiconductors and various designs (e.g., power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, CoreChip, mixers, trans-impedance amplifiers).
- Strong desire for continuous learning and development.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient problem-solving and debugging abilities.
- Familiarity with bench equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF sources, and power meters.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, project-oriented team environment.
- Possess a proactive attitude.
- Team-oriented with a self-motivated approach to multitasking and independent work.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with PCB design, schematics, layout, signal integrity, and component selection.
- Knowledge of peripheral design, including power distribution/filtering, clocking, and microprocessors.
- Familiarity with software tools such as Python, C, C++, Jupyter, Pads PCB, Cadence, ADS, Ansys, and Matlab.
