Eramet is a global mining and metallurgical company seeking an Intellectual Property Manager to join its team. This role involves overseeing the protection of the company's novel technologies and intellectual property, including processes, equipment, and materials.
The successful candidate will work closely with R&D and legal teams to identify patentable innovations, trade secrets, and other proprietary intellectual property. They will be responsible for managing the patent application process and Freedom-to-Operate risk.
The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field, and at least 7 years of experience in a technical role within an R&D environment. They will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

The Intellectual Property Manager will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing the IP strategy with the support of R&D and legal teams.
- Coordinating the process of innovation protection to facilitate decisions on R&D innovation ideas.
- Leading technical IP brainstorming with expert teams to define and progress new fields relevant for protection.
- Building and updating competitors' patent landscapes to detect opportunities and threats within the industry.
- Conducting initial interviews with inventors to document the scope of new inventions and managing freedom to operate and patentability studies.
- Preparing all relevant materials for patent applications, including writing descriptions and designing drawings.
- Managing and instructing patent attorney firms in the submission and prosecution of patent applications to the appropriate patent offices.
- Collaborating on external partnerships, such as joint development agreements and consortiums, to further innovation goals.
- Leading the patent surveillance system (using Orbit software) and setting up alerts.
