Job Title: Instrumentation & Automation Engineer

Job Summary:

AVENTA is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Automation Engineer to join our team. As an Instrumentation & Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems for bio-methane and biogas production units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement instrumentation systems for industrial environments, including metering equipment and systems, plant layout design, and hook up definition and design.
  • Develop and program PLC and DCS systems for process automation, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of field instruments, including flow meters, pressure sensors, temperature transmitters, and control valves.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control of production units.
  • Conduct loop checks, troubleshooting, and ensure the reliability and accuracy of instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ATEX regulations and other safety standards for installations in hazardous environments.
  • Collaborate with process and electrical teams to integrate instrumentation into plant systems and ensure seamless communication between equipment.
  • Manage automation and control projects from conceptual design through installation and testing phases.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including functional design specifications (FDS) and instrument data sheets.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure all automation systems comply with regulatory standards, including safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Provide technical support during startup, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Participate in training and developing procedures for operators to ensure proper system use and safety.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and automation engineering within the energy, gas, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven expertise in designing, programming, and commissioning control systems, with experience in bio-methane, biogas, or related processes preferred.
  • Ability to lead and manage complex automation projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and integrating instrumentation systems for industrial environments.
  • Expertise in PLC programming and configuring DCS systems for process automation.
  • Proficiency in designing and configuring SCADA and HMI systems for monitoring and controlling production processes.
  • Strong skills in calibration and troubleshooting of field instruments to ensure measurement accuracy and reliable performance.
  • Understanding of ATEX regulations for instrumentation in explosive atmospheres and knowledge of safety standards in hazardous environments.
  • Expertise in industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and HART, ensuring seamless integration between instruments and control systems.
  • Experience managing instrumentation and automation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
