Job Summary:

The Project Engineer - Automation Specialist will support the operational aspects of ongoing projects and work alongside program management and planning, project team, and line management. They will action and feed into the status of projects; maintain schedules and prepare status reports. Assessing project issues, the Project Engineer will work with the technical team to develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives and develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with program managers, line managers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support design, procurement, installation, and validation of automation production lines.
  • Process characterization and optimization (DFMEA's, PFMEA's, DOE's, etc.).
  • Support systematic technical root cause investigations.
  • Support production line ramp to achieve mature production targets.
  • Drive improvements in manufacturing metrics including OEE, scrap, cost, productivity, and utilization.
  • Apply and support lean manufacturing principles.
  • Adhere to all quality system requirements.
  • Action assigned project budgets, liaise with customers and contractors as required.
  • Travel as required to support equipment buy-offs and/or training at vendor/customer sites.
  • Review customer requirements and assess with vendors for tools, equipment, and services.
  • May establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test.
Requirements:
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, biomedical engineering, or similar discipline.
  • 0-2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with high volume automated assembly experience.
  • Able to work well in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Customer-focused, motivated, enthusiastic, self-directed, and results-driven.
  • Interest in automation lines and related equipment/systems (robots, PLCs, vision systems, etc.).
