Work Environment:

As an Intellectual Property Counsel in our European division, you will become part of a skilled, cooperative, and diverse team of in-house legal experts, paralegals, and professionals within the Global Trademark & Brand Protection Team. This collaborative setting is designed to support the management and strategic direction of trademark portfolios for Schneider Electric's global operations. You will report directly to the Global Director of Trademark and Brand Protection.

Key Responsibilities:

Your primary focus will be on the strategy, development, and oversight of trademark portfolios, which includes:
  • Managing and supervising global trademark portfolios across various business sectors.
  • Overseeing trademark applications, prosecution, and maintenance processes.
  • Analyzing office actions and formulating appropriate response strategies.
  • Conducting and evaluating trademark clearance searches, providing legal opinions, and assessing business risks for internal clients.
  • Reviewing trademark monitoring notices and advising on suitable actions.
  • Investigating and advising on trademark and copyright infringement issues.
  • Offering strategic legal and reputational risk guidance for the development of new products and services.
  • Assisting in the formulation and drafting of global trademark policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating to establish best practices and guidelines for brand and trademark usage.
  • Researching online brand misuse and coordinating with internal teams on response strategies.
  • Engaging with a global network of external counsel and agents regarding trademark filings and maintenance.
  • Providing strategic legal support and due diligence for internal teams on acquisitions and brand transitions.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in intellectual property, specifically in managing trademark portfolios.
  • A Master's or advanced degree in intellectual property law.
  • Familiarity with laws and practices under the Paris Convention and Madrid Protocol.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Personal Attributes:
  • Qualified or partially qualified representative before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the French Trademark Office (INPI).
  • Qualified professional representative under the local national qualification system.
  • Previous in-house experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to manage and direct external counsel and agents.
  • Proficiency in French, both written and spoken.
