About the Role
The Université Grenoble Alpes is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Engineer to join our team at the Observatoire des Sciences de l'Univers de Grenoble (OSUG). As a key member of our instrumentation and experimental techniques team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our cutting-edge instruments, including the FAME and FAME-UHD lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up sample environments (cryostat, oven, autoclave) in accordance with experiment planning and requirements.
- Conduct studies to design and develop specific sub-assemblies (mechanical, electronic, vacuum) to improve existing equipment.
- Perform assembly, adjustment, and testing of apparatus or experimental setups.
- Monitor and record the implementation and interventions on the instrument.
- Manage supplies for the operation and maintenance of installations.
- Manage technical documentation associated with experiments and the instrument.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- General knowledge of instrumentation techniques (mechanical construction, vacuum, cryogenics).
- Proficiency in basic industrial design techniques (e.g., Solid Works software).
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Autonomy and self-motivation.
- English language skills: B1 level (oral and written comprehension) and A2 level (oral and written expression).
- Curiosity and enthusiasm.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Bac + 2).
Compensation and Benefits
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, starting at 1784€ per month (gross), and a monthly gross indemnity of 352.75€.
