Join ONERA and Innovate the Future
ONERA is a prominent institution in the fields of aeronautics and space research, employing a dedicated workforce of over 2100 professionals. Operating under the auspices of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, ONERA boasts a substantial budget of 294 million euros, with a significant portion derived from research, study, and testing contracts. As a state authority, ONERA is at the forefront of preparing for future defense needs, tackling upcoming challenges in aeronautics and space, and enhancing the competitiveness of the aerospace sector. The organization excels in all relevant disciplines and technologies, earning international recognition and numerous accolades while training many doctoral candidates.
The Physics, Instrumentation, Environment, Space Department (DPHY) at ONERA is responsible for designing cutting-edge instruments and evaluating various aerospace environments and their implications for embedded systems. This department develops inertial instruments for applications in guidance-navigation, geodesy, and fundamental physics, in addition to metrological characterization methods for flows or plasmas, and plasma sources such as electric satellite thrusters. Research also includes studying lightning phenomena and their effects on aircraft, the impact of space environments on materials and electronic components, as well as issues related to electrostatic charge and satellite contamination.
The CMT research unit, focusing on 'Sensors and Micro/Nano Technologies' within DPHY, is dedicated to the development of high-performance micro-sensors tailored for aerospace applications. Responsibilities include:
- Creating real-time signal processing schemes
- Identifying functional components
- Modeling and implementing architectures on FPGA and analog electronics
- Integrating and characterizing prototypes
- Working on digital electronics for nanosatellite payloads
- Collaborating on R&D projects with various partners
- Contributing to publishing and technology transfer initiatives
Ideal candidates will possess an engineering or doctoral degree in electronics, along with experience in sensor electronics. Proficiency in AMD/XILINX tools is essential, as well as knowledge of analog electronics, signal processing techniques, FPGA implementation, and programming skills in VHDL, C/C++, and Python. Strong English language skills are also required.
At ONERA, we value diversity within our teams, driving innovation in aeronautics, defense, and space. Join us in shaping the future.
