About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Fabric Developer to join our team at Canada Goose. As a key member of our fabric development team, you will be responsible for driving the fabric development process from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with design, quality, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Creative Director and Paris atelier to develop and source seasonal fabrics aligning with brand essence and collection aesthetics.
- Drive the fabric development process from concept to commercialization, ensuring alignment with design, quality, and production standards.
- Oversee sampling and prototyping processes for accurate product representation in collaboration with the Product Development team.
- Maintain and cultivate strong relationships between cross-functional teams in Paris and Toronto, finished goods vendors, and fabric suppliers for timely material deliveries.
- Manage color development and lab dip approvals.
- Evaluate internal and 3rd-party test reports to ensure performance and durability criteria to evaluate risk.
- Maintain and publish material standard sheets in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for all new developments, capturing key information to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Act as the primary contact for color, material availability, and stock-related inquiries.
- Partner with the domestic Raw Materials Sourcing team to onboard new vendors for Canadian production.
- Partner with the Inline Materials Research and Innovation team to facilitate seamless development of crucial materials into the inline materials toolbox to meet quality and sustainability objectives.
- Partner with the Inline Materials Research and Innovation team to research and analyze global fabric trends, materials, and technologies to inspire and inform fabric development strategies.
About You:
- Bachelor's degree with a focus on design, fine arts; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4+ years' experience working with fabric suppliers and 3rd-party testing facilities.
- Deep technical knowledge and understanding of textiles and non-textile manufacturing technologies, with a passion for sustainable product development.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a high level of flexibility to adjust to change within a fast-paced, creative team environment.
- Technically sound fabric and color development background within the Apparel or Textile industry.
- Ability to anticipate problems, offer solutions, and address issues with materials to meet the Creative Director's aesthetic goals and business financial targets.
- Fluent French and English (verbal and written).
- Previous experience with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
