Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Seed Development Operations for Europe, you will oversee the operations at the Innovation Center in Toulouse, which is the largest cross-functional site in the European region and serves as the headquarters for Syngenta France SA.

This role is offered as a permanent contract , based in France.

Key Responsibilities

As the leader of the Toulouse site, which spans 12 hectares and hosts functions in Research, Development, and Marketing, you will play a crucial role in the success of our breeding programs, ensuring that we deliver the best products to our clients.

The site employs approximately 350 individuals and features a state-of-the-art greenhouse, one of the global centers for genotyping, along with various research and development teams, procurement, commerce, and support functions within Syngenta.

The Operations Site Leader will also coordinate site-related matters in France concerning HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and personnel, particularly in relation to local regulations. You will work closely with the President and General Director of Syngenta France or their Deputy Director.

Additionally, you will have responsibilities in social relations and will serve as the Chairperson of the Southern Site Works Council (CSE).

This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to translate strategic vision into tactical actions, and the capability to distill complex issues into actionable solutions, alongside a solid safety culture.

  1. Effectively lead the site through the site leadership team (SLT), which includes representatives from all key management roles, including facilities management.
  2. Manage and guide the site leadership team by conducting regular reviews of all key performance indicators (KPIs) and interdepartmental objectives, documenting them through a formal process to visualize site performance metrics and establish a defined action plan for future improvements.
  3. Drive progressive changes to foster a cultural shift on-site by encouraging and facilitating innovation and collaboration while adhering to all essential legal, compliance, safety, and security standards.
  4. Create an inclusive work environment and empower all site team members to uphold the highest standards and principles of a pleasant workplace, fostering a strong sense of belonging regardless of function or department.
  5. Ensure that the site is highly appealing to employees and projects a top-tier image of the company, both externally and internally.
  6. Guarantee adequate investment in site infrastructure and ensure business continuity in collaboration with Syngenta Facility Management (SFM) France.
Qualifications

Candidates should possess a BAC+5 level education, such as a Master's or Engineering degree in Engineering or HSE, with a minimum of 10 years of project management experience, including within international companies.

Experience in the seed industry is preferred.

Proven leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, build consensus, and gain support are essential.

Results-oriented mindset, capable of driving KPIs to effectively achieve business outcomes, and making decisions amidst conflicting priorities and ambiguity.

Strong analytical mindset and implementation of Agile project management, including planning, budget management, and operational excellence.

Experience in infrastructure project management and facilities management, along with modeling HSE roles.

Proficiency in both English and French is required to operate within our multicultural organization (meetings, emails, documents).
