Position Overview:
The Aga Khan Academies is seeking a dedicated Gender Officer to support our initiatives in Emergency Gender Equity & Social Inclusion. This role is crucial in ensuring that gender perspectives are effectively integrated into our programs, enhancing community resilience through a focus on gender and inclusion in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training and Capacity Development:
- Design and facilitate training workshops on gender mainstreaming for staff, partners, and stakeholders under the supervision of the Manager GESI.
- Enhance the skills of gender focal persons and staff in our program areas regarding gender integration.
- Program Development and Support:
- Ensure comprehensive gender integration across all program activities.
- Review new funding proposals with a focus on gender markers to enhance inclusivity and transformative programming.
- Advocacy and Awareness:
- Organize community awareness initiatives that address gender equality and climate change, highlighting the connections between disaster risk management and these critical issues.
- Train gender focal persons and social mobilizers to effectively lead discussions on gender equality and inclusion.
- Partnership and Networking:
- Collaborate across departments to ensure gender mainstreaming within various program components.
- Engage in gender networks and forums to exchange best practices and insights.
- Research and Analysis:
- Conduct thorough gender analyses to identify gaps and opportunities for promoting gender equality and social inclusion.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of gender initiatives, providing comprehensive reports on findings.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track progress towards gender-related objectives and report outcomes in collaboration with the M&E Team.
- Implement the Gender and Inclusion checklist effectively within the program.
- Identify challenges and propose recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree in gender studies or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
- Strong understanding of gender issues, climate change, and disaster risk reduction.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Urdu.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage time efficiently.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to personal development and knowledge enhancement.
