CONTEXT:
The mission of our Business Division (BD), Technology and Technical Support (T&TS), is to deliver sustainable, low-carbon solutions that are efficient in terms of technology, processes, catalysts, and services across all domains Axens operates in, including Biomass & Oil Hydroprocessing, Petrochemical production & purification, Gas and Water Treatment, and CO2 capture. The T&TS Business Division is accountable for the performance of our clients' units and for ensuring the competitiveness of our offerings in a challenging market landscape. The technologist role serves as a pivotal point, integrating technical support for sales, enhancing client performance, and steering R&D initiatives.
Within this BD, the Product Line for Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, Chemicals Integration focuses on technologies and products related to Renewable Diesel, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Clean Fuels, Petrochemical Feedstocks, and Specialty Products. This Product Line comprises several teams of highly skilled engineers, tasked with the following missions:
· Formulating, clarifying, and advocating for technical proposals (technologies and/or catalysts) in response to tenders, designing new units, modifying existing facilities, or substituting products.
· Assisting our clients by providing technical support for operational units.
· Promoting Axens' technologies and services through strategic marketing initiatives.
· Adapting and enhancing Axens' offerings within the technologists' areas of expertise, where they serve as custodians of knowledge and know-how.
We are seeking a Hydroprocessing Proposal Engineer (M/F) for our Product Line in Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, Chemicals Integration. This role involves collaborating closely with the Commercial Business Divisions (Global Market Manager, Regional Sales Manager) and interfacing with other Axens entities (Project Operation BD, Industrial Operation BD, Legal Department, etc.). The successful candidate will report to a Team/Group Manager. Expertise in Hydroprocessing of various feedstocks, including renewable materials and waste, is essential. This position will require international travel.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
In the Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing Group, the Hydroprocessing Proposal Engineer will be responsible for:
· Assessing customer needs and the competitive landscape to provide optimal technical solutions.
· Developing technical proposals (technologies and/or catalysts) in response to tenders, estimating performance, making technology selections, and proposing technical guarantees. Preliminary equipment sizing and project economics calculations may also be required.
· Contributing to commercial success by assisting Regional Sales Managers in preparing and defending offers to clients.
· Advocating for Axens' technologies, catalysts, and services through marketing activities, including the use of marketing materials and presentations at seminars.
· Maintaining a portfolio of client units and fostering ongoing technical relationships (e.g., performance reviews via digital platforms, on-site visits, troubleshooting).
· Conducting on-site missions (ranging from a few days to several weeks) at client facilities for performance testing, inspections, catalyst replacements, unit restarts, and troubleshooting.
· Participating in the collection, synthesis, and analysis of plant data, overseeing monitoring efforts to ensure knowledge capitalization.
· Leading or contributing to conceptual studies or projects for Axens' clients, including Kick-Off Meetings, optimization studies, energy efficiency assessments, and unit repurposing initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should possess a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or General Engineering, with a solid understanding of processes and/or catalysis, along with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in process design/engineering, operation of refining/chemical plants, or in the field of catalysts.
Familiarity with Hydroprocessing is advantageous.
Proficiency in design and equipment sizing using simulation software (e.g., ProII, Hysis) is a plus.
Fluency in English is essential for this role.
SKILLS:

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade are crucial, particularly in commercial support activities.
