Job Description

As the Head of Embedded Software Platform OS, you will be responsible for developing and managing the technologies and platform solutions related to your domain of expertise. This includes:

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing the platform OS and Technologies team to deliver software platforms and technologies to the Embedded Software and Audio Development Team.
  • Acting as a lead developer, providing technical guidance and mentorship to the team, and contributing to the codebase.
  • Estimating, validating, and tracking progress, skill requirements, and communicating them to upper management.
  • Anticipating bottlenecks and risks, providing management escalation, and working with product managers and product owners to ensure delivery against agreed priorities.
  • Ensuring the software is robust, future-proof, efficient, and maintainable.
  • Working closely with the director and peers to define and enforce state-of-the-art coding standards and architecture.
  • Working closely with the head of Embedded Software Validation to define and enforce state-of-the-art test plans.
  • Monitoring team activities to ensure compliance with development processes and quality standards.
  • Solving problems, balancing priorities, and finding creative solutions that achieve results.
  • Implementing mechanisms to monitor and report on the progress of embedded platforms and technologies development activities.
  • Supporting, communicating, and reinforcing the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Designing, coding, and debugging applications.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Managing the Embedded Platform OS and Technologies Team.
  • Acting as a leader.
  • Engaging the team, fostering collective thought process, and cooperation.
  • Keeping the team informed of the overall schedule and changes.
  • Coaching and training the team on best practices, processes, and standards as needed.
  • Supporting the team, providing feedback, and resolving breakdowns.
  • Evaluating individual performance.
Working as Part of a Global Team
  • Leading and managing stakeholder communication and requirements.
  • Interfacing with other project teams to ensure clear and timely communication of project deliverables and status.
  • Communicating if deliverables cannot be attained and getting consensus on steps forward with relevant stakeholders.
  • Establishing close working relationships with discipline leads.
  • Reporting status at regular intervals and escalating urgent issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in embedded systems engineering and bringing products to market.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded software development processes and life cycle.
  • Good problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Fluent English.
