Position Overview: Pediatric Psychiatry Nurse

The Pediatric Psychiatry Day Hospital operates within the Mental Health Department of the Centre Hospitalier de l'Ouest Guyanais, focusing on delivering specialized care to children aged 0 to 12 years. Our dedicated multidisciplinary team is available five days a week to provide essential early intervention services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver nursing care, therapeutic interventions, and preventive strategies autonomously or as directed by medical professionals.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including medical and paramedical personnel.
Core Duties:
  • Gather and evaluate clinical information to assess patient needs.
  • Conduct thorough interviews with patients, their families, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Offer therapeutic support and guidance to children and their families.
  • Plan and execute therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitor and document patient health progress.
  • Facilitate referrals to external service providers as necessary.
  • Engage in patient care meetings to discuss treatment plans.
  • Contribute to the organization and documentation of patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing interns.
  • Encourage social skills and promote autonomy among patients.
  • Conduct home visits to support families.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Proven ability to establish rapport with children and families, manage crises, and demonstrate empathy.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems and cultural considerations.
  • Experience in collaborating with external agencies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with best practices.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, including those related to infectious diseases.
Work Schedule:

This position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, with fixed weekends off.

Compensation:
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Includes a 40% cost of living adjustment.
  • Tax deductions applicable within specified limits.
  • Opportunity for enrollment of children aged 3 to 12 at our affiliated Perischool Center.
