EDF Renewables is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Wind Energy Study Engineer to join our Engineering department.
As part of a dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in the development and execution of onshore wind energy projects both within France and internationally.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive wind resource assessments and project yield estimations for onshore wind farms.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project managers throughout the development phase, ensuring seamless project progression.
- Define and implement strategies for measuring wind resources effectively, utilizing industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Analyze data collected from wind measurement campaigns, extracting valuable insights to optimize project design and performance.
- Develop optimized layouts for wind farms, considering factors such as turbine placement, spacing, and environmental impact.
- Conduct thorough yield calculations and associated uncertainty analyses, providing accurate projections of energy production.
- Prepare technical preliminary project drafts encompassing various aspects, including acoustic assessments, site access plans, electrical design specifications, and soil risk analysis.
- Review and evaluate potential studies conducted by external organizations for project acquisitions and tender submissions.
- Perform yield studies to support competitive tender responses, ensuring EDF Renewables remains at the forefront of the industry.
- Analyze discrepancies between estimated and actual production, identifying areas for improvement and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, departments, and external stakeholders within the EDF group, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the wind energy sector through continuous industry research and engagement.
- Contribute to due diligence activities and tendering processes, ensuring successful project acquisition and development.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior study engineers, fostering their professional growth and development within the team.
Your Profile:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in renewable energy and wind yield estimation.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A generalist engineering degree with a specialization in energy, coupled with a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, statistics, and programming.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, specifically focused on wind yield estimation and project development.
- Extensive expertise in wind resource assessment methodologies, project management principles, and team leadership skills.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software tools such as Windpro, WAsP, Meteodyn, and programming languages like Matlab, R, and Python.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.
