Job Summary

Naval Group is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Waste Treatment Operator to join our team in Cherbourg. As a key member of our Nuclear Activities and Support Production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient treatment of nuclear waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Constitute the on-site representative of the Nuclear Waste and Transport Department, and prioritize waste conditioning in the INBS.
  • Collect, sort, and package radioactive waste produced on site, according to its nature and activity, which may involve working in a radiological enclosure.
  • Ensure the packaging of radioactive waste in compliance with physical requirements.
  • Handle radioactive waste packages (pont and elevated platform).
  • Perform radioactivity measurements (contamination measurements, DED, and gamma spectrometry).
  • Ensure the traceability of waste throughout its life cycle (listing/inventory to be kept up to date).
  • Ensure on-site compliance with nuclear transport regulations in direct liaison with the INBS transport coordinator.
  • Perform decontamination operations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare for interventions using documentation, experience, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Fill and sign intervention documents to create maintenance records for equipment and track modifications, ensuring timely reordering of replacement parts.

Requirements

  • CAP/BAC in the relevant field.
  • Knowledge of radiation spectrum requirements for waste.
  • Awareness of the need for metrological calibration of used equipment.
  • Ability to perform waste sorting based on sorting instructions.
  • Awareness of radiological characterization of waste.
  • Awareness of the risks associated with waste storage and the measures to be taken to work safely.
