The Finance division for Continental Europe operates from multiple locations, comprising a skilled group of Fund Managers, Financial Controllers, Treasurers, and a Business Technology Solutions Manager. This team plays a crucial role in the organization, collaborating closely with Fund Management, Acquisitions, and Asset Management teams.Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Operations Controller will oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with statutory and tax regulations for a diverse range of separate account clients and pooled investment funds at various phases of their lifecycle. Beyond the essential financial duties, this role provides essential support to all LaSalle teams, working in tandem with transaction and portfolio/fund teams. The Financial Operations Controller will offer financial, legal, accounting, and tax assistance to other departments on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will aid in performance analysis and reporting for the portfolio while also supporting acquisition and asset management transactions, including structuring, due diligence, financing, and sales agreements. This position necessitates regular interaction with external accountants, property managers, tax and legal advisors, and banking institutions.- Assist the Fund Finance Manager in preparing monthly NAV/unit price calculations and quarterly reports.
- Oversee statutory and tax compliance for Luxembourg holding entities.
- Direct the external audit team to achieve an unqualified opinion on the reliability of financial statements.
- Manage the preparation of recurring investor reports, including TGER, SDDS, and SOLVENCY.
- Supervise accounting and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations and fund documentation, including quarterly financial statements, annual statutory accounts, cash flow forecasts, and investor inquiries.
- Guarantee the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of reporting production with support from external or internal accountants.
- Coordinate the engagement of external advisors as necessary, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with external advisors and the internal tax team on tax planning, ensuring compliance across all portfolio entities, identifying tax opportunities and risks, and managing tax audits.
- Oversee annual legal obligations for portfolio companies, including capital adjustments, dividend distributions, mergers, liquidations, and internal loan documentation.
- Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient funds for transactions and efficient repatriation of surplus funds to investors in collaboration with Portfolio/Fund management.
- Support acquisition and sales transactions by working closely with operations on deal structuring to enhance profitability and operational efficiency, conducting due diligence, and reviewing transaction agreements.
- Provide financial and tax data to LaSalle local, European, and US teams for their analyses.
- Collaborate with Asset Management and Portfolio/Fund management to develop forecasts, budgets, and analytical reviews for all entities within the portfolio.
- Build strong relationships and serve as a primary contact for internal fund/asset managers, external property managers, and other stakeholders regarding all financial matters.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to ensure adequate internal controls and participate in internal audits.
- Assist in implementing best practices across all facets of client/fund accounting.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Qualified accountant (CPA designation, business school, or equivalent).
- 4+ years of financial experience in an international context, preferably within an auditing firm or investment services sector.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Robust technical accounting expertise.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Self-driven and proactive mindset.
- Diligent and capable of meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized, methodical, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of fund and/or property accounting is preferred.
