Key Responsibilities
The GIS Specialist will provide support to various departments within the project, focusing on geographical information systems and databases for multiple sites in France. Key tasks include creating, using, and sharing geographic system-based databases, files, and maps, as well as compiling, validating, and publishing geographical information from internal resources, engineering suppliers, and public entities.
Main Objectives
The GIS Specialist will contribute to the development of the GIS strategy for IMERYS globally, focusing on Lithium Projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and exporting maps with various layers, such as cadastral information, monitoring points, environmentally protected areas, and existing and to-be-constructed infrastructure.
- Validating and updating topographies, surveys, and elevation models.
- Converting GIS files to CAD and CAD to SIG, including shapes, dwg, kmz, etc.
- Extracting views from the GIS for permitting applications, environmental studies, hazard studies, and discussions with public infrastructure operators, administrations, and local stakeholders.
Requirements
The GIS Specialist must have a Geospatial/Mining/Geology Engineering degree with a GIS qualification and a minimum of 2 years of experience. Key requirements include:
- Proficiency with ESRI GIS software or other GIS software, such as QGIS, ARCGIS, and web-based GIS.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with geospatial or mining software, such as Surpac and Leapfrog.
- Strong computer skills, including databases, cloud, and Google Suite.
Language and Communication
The GIS Specialist must have English and French at a professional level and be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences across various management levels and external engineering firms.
Working Conditions
The GIS Specialist will work full-time in a permanent position, based in Paris with travel to Allier as needed.
