Key Responsibilities

As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will serve as a reliable technical leader, adept at navigating uncertainty, simplifying intricate issues, and articulating a clear vision. Your collaboration with the team will involve making informed decisions that balance business needs with technical requirements. You will identify opportunities to unify overlapping technical initiatives and guide the long-term strategy with support from engineering leaders and partner organizations. Responsibilities will include on-call duties, either by directly assisting our internal incident response team or maintaining response capabilities for our clients; you build it, you run it. Additionally, you will drive operational excellence by researching new capabilities, refining processes, automating routine tasks, and ensuring the needs of our internal stakeholders are met.

Ideal Candidate Profile

A strong understanding of cloud technologies and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are crucial.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Review and assess new and ongoing security mitigations, analyzing proposed solutions and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Align immediate requirements with long-term objectives, consistently evaluating the impact of innovations and suggesting creative solutions.
  • Collaborate frequently with specialized teams to maintain a cohesive vision.
  • Participate in the on-call escalation rotation, ensuring systems are resilient to minimize disruptions. When issues arise, work collaboratively to identify and resolve root causes to prevent recurrence.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technology experience (3+ years). Proven experience in developing scalable security tools (3+ years). Familiarity with web protocols and Linux/Unix systems (3+ years). Experience in host, network, and application security (3+ years). Proficiency in building automated tools, preferably using Python, JavaScript, or Java (2+ years).

A Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technology experience (5+ years) is preferred. A high level of organization and attention to detail is essential. The ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels is required. Previous experience in a Security Operations team or coordinating responses to security incidents is crucial. Excellent project management skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities are necessary. Extensive knowledge of internet security issues and the threat landscape is required. Familiarity with virtualization technologies and services such as AWS and GuardDuty is highly valued. A comprehensive understanding of web protocols and in-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix systems is essential. A well-rounded background in host, network, and application security is necessary. The candidate must meet or exceed Amazon's leadership principles and functional/technical depth and complexity requirements for this role.
