Sustainable Materials Strategist

Listgrove Ltd is delighted to be recruiting a Sustainable Materials Strategist to support Decathlon in their efforts to transform the sustainable plastic materials industry.

This role will be involved in building and managing 5-year material purchase strategies, collaborating with suppliers, and driving business evolution of sustainable plastic materials. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of recycled plastics materials, an excellent network within Europe, China, and India, and a good strategic mindset.

We estimate that the salary for this position will be around £70,000-£90,000 per annum, depending on experience, location, and other factors. This competitive salary reflects the importance of this role in driving sustainable innovation and transformation within the company.

Responsibilities include:

• Building and managing 5-year material purchase strategies based on a supplier panel answering company challenges (availability, sustainable development, performance/innovation).
• Driving business evolution of sustainable plastic materials in a sustainable and risks anticipation mindset.
• Collecting, analysing, generalizing data up to materials to guarantee performance.
• Enabling and aligning with Decathlon's circularity strategies.

Candidate requirements include a Master's degree, at least 5 years of experience in the plastics industry, and a history of working with material producers or distributors. Extensive experience within the plastic material sector is required, as well as knowledge of plastic processes (injection, blowing, etc.). Recognized leadership and the ability to work effectively in a complex environment are crucial, along with curiosity, visionary thinking, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to influence and challenge.
