Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chartering Specialist to join our team at Subsea 7. As a key member of our Global Project Centre(s) Supply Chain Management function, you will be responsible for chartering transportation and marine assets to support our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with suppliers to perform market screening and issuance of enquiries to the market.
  • Perform commercial assessment, normalization, and evaluation of offers from suppliers.
  • Issue bid summaries and presentations to internal stakeholders.
  • Support and coordinate technical evaluations with internal functions and stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations with selected suppliers pre-contract award and through placements of charter parties with selected owners.
  • Manage post-contract award of charter parties, issue addendums to contracts during execution, and remain the focal point between suppliers and internal stakeholders until contract completion.
  • Work proactively with internal stakeholders and functions to ensure all contractual obligations are communicated and understood by internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure awareness of key project schedules and planning through regular collaborations with key project stakeholders.
  • Review and obtain approval of invoices related to charter party agreements.
  • Track costs related to each charter party against the as-sold budget.
  • Ensure timely close-out of charter parties upon completion of works.
  • Develop strong supplier interfaces during chartering pre- and post-award activities.
  • Continuously strive to optimize cost, quality, and schedule related to chartering activities.
Requirements
  • Degree or qualification in maritime business or maritime law.
  • Previous experience working with BIMCO charter parties, specifically Supply Time, Heavycon, Bargehire, and GENCON.
  • Relevant experience in a similar position with an owner, broker, or working for a charterer.
  • Strong contracting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and challenging requests.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Creative problem-solving ability to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.
  • Sound communication skills to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as individually with minimal supervision.

  • Understanding of clients' needs and ability to suggest and apply 'fit for purpose' solutions.
