Position Overview:

The Aga Khan Academies is seeking a dedicated Gender Officer to join our team. This role is pivotal in advancing our commitment to gender equity and social inclusion within our educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training and Capacity Development:
    • Design and facilitate training programs on gender equity for staff and stakeholders.
    • Enhance the skills of gender focal points and partners in our program areas.
  • Program Development and Support:
    • Ensure the integration of gender considerations in all program activities.
    • Review funding proposals to ensure alignment with gender equity objectives.
  • Advocacy and Community Engagement:
    • Organize community awareness initiatives focused on gender equality and its intersection with climate change.
    • Train gender focal persons to effectively engage communities on these issues.
  • Collaboration and Networking:
    • Work collaboratively across departments to promote gender mainstreaming.
    • Engage in gender networks to exchange best practices and insights.
  • Research and Evaluation:
    • Conduct assessments to identify gender-related gaps and opportunities.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of gender initiatives and report findings.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Track progress towards gender-related objectives and collaborate with the M&E team.
    • Implement the Gender and Inclusion checklist effectively across programs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's degree in gender studies or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Strong understanding of gender issues, climate change, and disaster risk reduction.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Urdu, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
