American President Lines is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Fleet Superintendent. This position is a key part of our team, responsible for ensuring the operational monitoring of container ships and implementing measures to optimize ship management. The successful candidate will have a chief/second engineer license, or a degree in naval engineering, and at least 5 years of experience as a seafarer and/or in a similar position. They will be fluent in spoken and written English, proficient in office and IT tools, and have good knowledge of international shipping regulations. The ideal candidate will be interested in decarbonisation topics related to the maritime industry and have strong analytical and interpersonal skills. The position involves frequent business trips, approximately 45 days per year. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the good condition of the vessels' seaworthiness and their business performance, including certificates, international obligations, speed, capacity, lifting gear, etc. They will also be responsible for updating all shipping documents and official certificates necessary for the vessel, controlling vessel consumptions, and participating in their optimization for decarbonisation and cost savings purposes. The Fleet Superintendent will be the key contact for chief engineers, captains, lines, and shipyards, and will draw up and monitor operational budgets allocated to each vessel. They will also be appointed as CMA Ships expert and representative onsite if required. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
