Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and integration of mechanical systems for advanced satellite missions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems for satellite platforms, including structural components, thermal management systems, and deployment mechanisms.
- Conduct structural and thermal analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to ensure mechanical integrity and performance under operational conditions.
- Lead the integration and testing of mechanical systems, coordinating with systems engineers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Oversee manufacturing and assembly processes, collaborating with suppliers and production teams to ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential mechanical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support testing activities, including environmental testing (vibration, thermal vacuum) and provide troubleshooting support during test campaigns.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and satellite technology, integrating best practices into design and development processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for aerospace applications, preferably with satellite systems or space vehicles.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems design, including thermal control, structural integrity, and mechanical reliability.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and materials used in aerospace applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with satellite mechanical systems, including structures, deployable mechanisms, and thermal systems.
- Knowledge of space environment effects on mechanical systems and experience mitigating those challenges.
- Familiarity with ISO and AS9100 standards related to aerospace manufacturing and quality assurance.
- Previous experience in project management or leading engineering teams is a plus.
