Context and Benefits of the Position

The ARAMIS lab, part of Inria, is dedicated to developing new machine learning and statistical approaches for analyzing large neuroimaging and clinical data sets.

This PhD position is funded by the Paris Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (PRAIRIE) and focuses on deep learning-based analysis of brain imaging data to assist clinical decisions in brain disorders.

Our team has been a pioneer in reproducible and trustworthy evaluation of machine learning for computer-aided diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

Main Activities

  • Enrich the framework with advanced deep learning models, tasks, and datasets.
  • Better account for brain imaging specificities, including multiple acquisitions, scanners, hospitals, and datasets.
  • Propose an adequate inferential statistics framework for model validation and comparison.
  • Perform benchmarking experiments across deep learning and standard machine learning models, tasks, diseases, and datasets.
  • Demonstrate the importance of accounting for brain imaging specificities when evaluating models.
  • Implement approaches in open-source software, particularly ClinicaDL.

Requirements

  • Excellent background in machine learning.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python.
  • Strong interest in experimental aspects of machine learning.
  • Good background in statistics.
  • Knowledge of computer vision and medical image processing is a plus.
  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently with team members.
