The World Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join its team as a Senior Environmental and Social Development Specialist. This role will be responsible for assessing and mitigating environmental and social risks associated with private sector projects, ensuring compliance with the World Bank's Performance Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental and social risk assessments for private sector projects, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure compliance with the World Bank's Performance Standards and other relevant policies.
- Develop and implement environmental and social management systems for clients, ensuring effective monitoring and reporting.
- Provide training and capacity-building support to clients and World Bank staff on environmental and social risk management.
- Represent the World Bank at industry events and technical meetings, promoting the organization's sustainability objectives.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in environment, social science, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in environmental and social risk management, with a strong track record of working with private sector clients.
- Experience with the World Bank's Performance Standards and other relevant policies.
- International experience, with a strong understanding of developing country contexts.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
