We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our religious education program as a Director of Faith Formation. This part-time position requires a collaborative approach, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to the Catholic faith.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive religious education program for grades 1-7, including sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
- Oversee the Children's Liturgy of the Word and collaborate with other parish staff to ensure a cohesive and engaging faith formation experience.
- Prepare and manage the Religious Education budget in cooperation with the business manager and parish finance committee.
- Recruit and train catechists to increase their catechetical knowledge and classroom skills.
- Enlist the help of volunteers to support the RE office, classrooms, and special events.
- Communicate with parents about the importance of ongoing parental involvement and support in the faith formation of their children.
- Offer faith enrichment opportunities for parents and families.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and attend workshops, enrichment events, and deanery meetings to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- A degree in education, theology, or a related field is not required but is helpful.
- Experience in parish religious education and a collaborative approach with good communication and computer skills are necessary.
- Proven participation and continuing updating of the Safe Environment Program sponsored through the Diocese of Joliet.
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, and must know, profess, and act consistently in accordance with the doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
