**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Material Developer to join our Softgoods/Apparel Team at Salomon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence in material development, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development: Contribute to the creation of innovative, efficient, and reliable materials, staying at the forefront of technology and meeting customer expectations.
  • Define Solutions: Develop technical choices, controlling innovation and risk-taking adequacy, and ensuring material booking for prototypes in collaboration with the purchasing team.
  • Material Selection: Manage the selection of materials, considering performance, production locations, and price targets, while optimizing the number of materials.
  • Quality Control: Check material conformity to quality standards and design expectations, and ensure the reliability and availability of technical files and required data for production.
  • Sustainability: Develop materials that align with the brand's values, CSR approach, and sustainability targets.
  • Collaboration: Lead meetings around fabric selection processes, secure follow-up with key stakeholders, and order fabric yardages for internal prototyping.

Anticipation:

  • University Partnerships: Collaborate in the development of university partnerships to drive innovation and expertise in material development.
  • Technical Textile Innovation: Follow up on technical textile innovation in the industry, identifying emerging trends and competitors.
  • Material Library: Contribute to the development of the material library, a repository of textile materials.
  • Anticipation Projects: Lead specific anticipation projects, such as advanced material development projects.

Requirements

  • Essential Skills & Experience: 5 years of experience in a similar position, Master's degree in Textile Engineering, strong expertise in outwear products, technical product knowledge, and knowledge in garment construction and production.
  • Essential Competencies: Market knowledge, innovation, and communication skills, including emotional intelligence and adaptability.
  • Desired Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Centric, and languages such as English, French, and Mandarin.
