The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time position in the Department of History and Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2025.
Responsibilities:- Teach six courses per academic year, including courses in support of the university's first-year experience.
- Develop and teach courses in the department's philosophy curriculum.
- Engage in academic advising and mentoring.
- Participate in service to the department and the university, including committee work and assessment.
- Contribute to the development of the department's curriculum and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
- PhD degree in philosophy by the time of appointment.
- Internationally visible research and teaching competence in ancient philosophy, broadly defined.
- Training in one or more areas of theoretical philosophy, such as philosophy of language, logic, or philosophy of mind.
- Ability to teach classes in literature, languages, linguistics, and performance.
