At SFBI, we are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiological Modeller to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing large-scale epidemiological models to improve animal disease surveillance and monitoring.
About the RoleWe are looking for a talented individual with expertise in mechanistic modelling, disease surveillance, and bovine viral diarrhea (BVD). Your primary responsibility will be to work on defining optimal surveillance schemes according to territorial specificities and accounting for limiting resources. You will also be responsible for applying your knowledge to BVD, a top enzootic cattle disease in Europe, and developing effective surveillance schemes to intervene early in case of virus introduction.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement large-scale epidemiological models to improve animal disease surveillance and monitoring
- Work on defining optimal surveillance schemes according to territorial specificities and accounting for limiting resources
- Apply your knowledge to BVD, a top enzootic cattle disease in Europe, and develop effective surveillance schemes to intervene early in case of virus introduction
- Collaborate with the DYNAMO team at UMR1300 BIOEPAR (INRAE, Oniris) to advance our understanding of disease spread and develop targeted interventions
- Excellent programming skills in Python, R, and C++
- Strong organizational and written/oral communication skills, with fluency in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for epidemiology and disease modelling
