Our extensive product range includes high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, integrated systems, tailored services, infrastructure, signaling, and digital mobility solutions.

Within our Alstom Digital & Integrated Systems division, the Saint-Ouen Development Center (Urban Center of Excellence – approximately 400 professionals) is responsible for the development of key Alstom Urban CBTC Signaling Solutions, including Urbalis 400, which has been implemented in over 100 metro line projects globally, and

Urbalis Fluence:
our latest and most advanced Urban Signaling System).

The Software Engineering Department Lead plays a crucial role in driving technological leadership and fostering innovation within the organization. This position involves overseeing the development and delivery of essential software solutions, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the Alstom Urban Platform while meeting established quality standards.

The responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical oversight and managing a diverse team.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional departments to enhance software excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Scaling the Software department in accordance with business growth and offering technical vision and leadership for software engineering across various locations.
  • Managing resource allocation within the software engineering department (over 100 personnel, including internal staff and subcontractors) in line with project prioritization.
  • Leading and mentoring software engineering teams, promoting a culture of innovation, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products.
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment while maintaining high software quality standards.
  • Addressing technical challenges and spearheading initiatives to enhance software engineering processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards in the railway sector and addressing security concerns throughout the software development lifecycle.

Applicants should possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in leading large teams, along with at least 7 years of experience in software engineering. A solid foundation in embedded software development practices, programming languages, architecture, and system design is essential. Familiarity with alternative methodologies such as Agile is advantageous. Effective communication skills with peers and senior leadership are also required.
