This role, reporting to the Logistics Director for Europe, is tasked with overseeing warehousing and secondary freight operations across multiple countries. The position is responsible for managing relationships with logistics service providers, ensuring they meet agreed service levels while optimizing costs. The role involves overseeing a logistics budget of approximately $10 million and is accountable for achieving on-time delivery targets and effective inventory management.
As a member of the European Logistics Leadership Team, this position also plays a vital role in shaping the EU logistics strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve logistics budget and service KPIs for the designated country group.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives through sustainable continuous improvement and by critically evaluating the logistics cost structure.
- Conduct performance assessments of warehouse and transport logistics service providers, develop enhancement plans, and ensure accountability.
- Facilitate cross-functional initiatives aimed at cost improvement for the country group.
- Manage warehousing and transport capacity, including developing risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee inventory management to align with country group objectives and SCJ standards, ensuring accuracy, stock takes, quality control, expiration compliance, dangerous goods management, obsolescence, and returns.
- Ensure compliance of all logistics hub operations with SCJ and local legal standards regarding health and safety, environmental regulations, and transport/import/export laws.
- Supervise significant logistics transformation projects for the country group.
- Lead, mentor, and develop one direct report.
Required Skills and Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in engineering or supply chain management.
- Extensive experience in logistics or supply chain management, including warehousing, transportation, or managing third-party logistics providers.
- Experience in Global Trade Compliance is a competitive advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to effectively present data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to cultivate business partnerships and foster external collaborative relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across the organization.
- Proficiency in local and English languages (knowledge of a third major European language is a plus).
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management and negotiation.
- Proven project management capabilities.
- Familiarity with LEAN practices; LEAN Champion certification is an advantage.
