We are seeking a dedicated teacher-researcher specializing in cybersecurity to join our IT and Networks department (INFRES).

In today's digital landscape, cybersecurity is of paramount importance, as cyber threats such as hacking, phishing, ransomware, and data breaches are on the rise. Safeguarding information systems is essential to avert financial losses, reputational damage, and privacy violations. The increasing reliance on connected technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and critical infrastructures, heightens these risks and underscores the necessity for effective solutions.

Given the significant developments in this field over recent years and the anticipated growth, the Cryptography and Cybersecurity (C2) team within the Computer Science and Networks (INFRES) department is looking to enhance its capabilities by recruiting an assistant/associate professor in cybersecurity. This individual will collaborate with various teams at Télécom Paris, including Autonomous Critical Embedded Systems (ACES), Networks, Mobility and Services (RMS) at INFRES, Secure and Safe Hardware (SSH) at COMELEC, and the Economic and Social Sciences (SES) department, as well as with other teams at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, École Polytechnique, and Télécom SudParis.

Research Focus

The team aims to cultivate expertise in diverse areas of cybersecurity, including:

  • (i) Designing robust security mechanisms for emerging wireless networks (6G, IIoT, ITS-G5, etc.) to ensure secure communications from user terminals to remote servers.
  • (ii) Developing innovative solutions tailored to the security of virtualized architectures and cloud infrastructures.
  • (iii) Creating advanced detection mechanisms and effective automated responses to mitigate the impact of cyberattacks.

Teaching Responsibilities

Télécom Paris has a pressing need for cybersecurity education, both in course delivery and in managing teaching units. This subject is highly sought after by our students across various programs, including engineering courses (SR2I on Network and IT Infrastructure Security and ACCQ on algebra applied to cryptography) and Specialized Masters (ARC for Architecture, Network and Cybersecurity, CYBER2 for Cybersecurity and Cyberdefense, and ECRSI for Expert Cybersecurity of Networks and Information Systems). The recruited assistant/associate professor will enhance the institution's capacity to coordinate, design, and implement courses on IT network and system security, including cloud, radio communications, and vehicular networks. Additionally, participation in foundational computer science courses for first-year students is expected.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the design and implementation of cybersecurity education.
  • Engaging in innovative cybersecurity research initiatives.
  • Participating in and supporting the scientific activities of the host group.
  • Developing partnerships, collaborations, and contractual relationships in the cybersecurity domain.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a PhD and have comprehensive IT skills. A solid understanding of secure digital architectures and security protocols, particularly in wireless networks and/or cloud infrastructures, is essential. Familiarity with principles of cyber-attack detection and response is also required.

Preferred knowledge includes:

  • Resilience models for cybersecurity architectures.
  • AI applications in cybersecurity.
  • Access control mechanisms.
