Objective of the Role

The incumbent will be responsible for developing short-term software components for the Mobile Communication Gateway (MCG) to meet the new feature requirements of various projects or to address software maintenance needs. In the medium term, this position is expected to transition into cloud software development.

Organizational Structure

  • This position falls under: Digital Services Digital & Cyber Platform Railway Operations Solutions
  • Direct reporting to: Software Development Team Lead

Internal and External Connections

  • Internal: Development team members and V&V Coordinator TC&IS Basic Platform Project Engineer (as necessary)
  • External: Suppliers (if applicable) and Customers (if necessary)

Key Responsibilities

The role entails:

  • Developing new software components for the MCG and/or maintaining existing software components that require updates due to vulnerability management, new features, or bug fixes.
  • Ensuring effective management and traceability of software configurations, including design tools, and producing release notes.
  • Verifying that the content of baselines, release or delivery notes, and Software Reference version identifications comply with the release standards.
  • Meeting the specified software quality requirements outlined in the System Engineering and TCMS Software Quality Plan, while informing team members of their associated responsibilities.
  • Ensuring quality across all domains of the project (Software).
  • Leading and supporting design planning and the execution of Design/Verification reviews throughout the Design For Quality cycle.
  • Delivering all outputs, including Software specifications or Functional Design Descriptions (FDD), and ensuring software compliance with SW Engineering commitments.
  • Delivering Train Software according to the Engineering Work Package.
  • Reporting to the Software Development Team Leader.

Performance Metrics:

On-Time Delivery (OTD), Quality, Cost, Project reliability/availability/cost targets.

Required Qualifications

Educational Background

A university degree in Computer Science or Automation Engineering is required.

Experience

Mandatory:

  • 6-10 years of experience in Embedded Software system/Application engineering.
  • Hands-on development experience in one or more software phases, including software development and hardware-software integration.
  • Proficiency in software development using languages such as C, C++, Python, PHP, Angular, JavaScript, and Bash scripts, along with a solid understanding of Qt libraries.
  • Good working knowledge of the Linux operating system and network protocols like MVB, Ethernet, IPTCom, and TRDP.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with rolling stock.
  • Basic knowledge of software containers (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS).
  • Basic understanding of Cybersecurity.
