About the Job

The Deputy Logistics Coordinator serves as a key support member for the mission's logistics activities, ensuring seamless operations and effective implementation of logistics tools and procedures. Key responsibilities include providing backup for the Logistics Coordinator, managing urgent tasks, and supporting base operations.

Main Challenges

  • The mission has increased activities and funding due to the ongoing conflict.
  • Cross-border operations are underway through Chad to Darfur, involving the setup of new sites and bases.
  • The logistics department requires restructuring and strategic planning to meet the mission's needs.
  • Human resources and training programs need revision and implementation.

Priorities for the First 2/3 Months

  • Training for national staff in Ndjamena and support for the Logistics Manager.
  • Capacity building on supply movements from Chad to Sudan, including transport and storage.
  • Revision and action plan for living conditions in N'Djamena and support for Geneina.
  • Conduct market assessments and compile prices and suppliers in Chad.
  • Improve logistics reporting on a monthly basis.

Your Profile

Education and Academic Background

Bachelor's degree in logistics or a related field.

Specific Skills and Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • 3-4 years in a similar position.
  • Experience in importation and custom clearances.
  • Experience in emergency and unstable contexts.
  • Team management and capacity building skills.
  • Adaptability and strong initiative.

Language

  • Fluent French.
  • Fluent English.
  • Arabic is an asset.
