Job Description

Job Title: Internship: Priority Africa and External Relations Coordinator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Intern in the Sector for Priority Africa and External Relations. The successful candidate will assist in coordinating, liaising, and providing strategic policy advice to the Director General.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare preliminary draft notes, memoranda, letters, and proposals for submission to member states, programmes, and partners.
  • Assist in researching and analyzing information for briefings on bilateral meetings.
  • Provide assistance in coordinating the Sector's contributions to statutory meetings and drafting reports.
  • Deal with a wide range of issues by providing timely, accurate, and specific information in response to queries.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, events, and provide technical support to ensure the success of the work team.
  • Update the PAX Website on Intranet with information on member states, UNESCO events, publications, etc.

  • Acquire a general understanding of the work and mission of UNESCO, with a special focus on the mandate of the Sector for Priority Africa and External Relations.
  • Understand the context of global policy making, including the role of UNESCO and international organizations.

  • Obtain a deep understanding of the functioning of the Organisation with a perspective on its policies, key challenges, and impact.

Requirements:

  • Age: You must be at least 20 years old to apply.
  • Academic qualifications: You are currently enrolled in a graduate programme or have recently graduated with a Master's degree or PhD.
  • Languages: You should have an excellent command, both written and spoken, of English or French.
  • Computer skills: You must have an excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software.
  • Team player: You should be able to work well in a team and adapt to an international working environment.
  • Communication skills: You should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Benefits and Entitlements:

  • UNESCO does not remunerate interns.
  • Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship.
