Job Description
The Detector and Electronics Group at the ESRF is seeking a skilled X-ray Detector Technician to join their team. As a key member of the group, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, production, and development of X-ray detectors for synchrotron radiation beams.
Your primary duties will include:
- Providing technical and operational support for measurement instruments managed by the Detector Unit
- Carrying out repairs on simple and complex X-ray detectors
- Contributing to the production of X-ray detectors, including follow-up and verification of internal or external manufacturing
- Performing physical characterization of sensors
- Testing and evaluating different types of instruments used in the Detector Unit, including the analysis of test results
- Designing, building, or modifying X-ray detectors from the design phase (mechanics, electronics) up to their integration in a mechanical housing
- Participating in the development of new X-ray detectors
Requirements
- You should hold a Technical/Academic degree (BTS, DUT, Bachelor or equivalent diploma worth at least 120 ECTS) in instrumentation, physical measurements, technical engineering, or electrotechnics
- A previous professional experience as engineer assistant or equivalent
- Good general understanding of physical measurements techniques and instrumentation
- Basic skills in CAD, ideally with Solidworks and/or Altium for mechanical and electronic circuit designs
- Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary staff and facility users
- Aptitude for team work
- Well-organized, meticulous, and methodical approach to the work
- Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)
Working Conditions
Permanent contract. The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
