Amazon is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer, who has experience in both developing and managing production-grade tools or services, to enhance automation and scalability in security while addressing security challenges across the globe's largest cloud provider.
You will become part of a team that is constantly innovating and simplifying how we manage incident response and elevate the security standards of Amazon Security Services, all while facilitating the resolution of intricate security challenges.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will serve as a highly regarded technical leader, adept at navigating uncertainty, simplifying complex issues, and articulating a clear vision. You will collaborate with a team and make informed decisions balancing business and technical constraints. You will pinpoint opportunities to merge overlapping technical initiatives and steer the long-term strategy with support from fellow engineering leaders and partner organizations. You will be expected to participate in on-call duties, either by directly assisting our internal incident security operations response team or maintaining response capabilities for our clients; you build it, you manage it. This role demands exceptional technical, problem-solving, and communication abilities. The candidate should demonstrate verifiable leadership qualities, including being proactive, thoughtful, thorough, decisive, and adaptable, while maintaining professionalism and integrity at all times. Maturity and high-level judgment are critical for success. The candidate is not merely a spokesperson for projects but is driven to achieve results. At the core of this position is the commitment to delivery. You will have a solid understanding of cloud technologies and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- You frequently coordinate with other specialized teams to maintain a unified vision.
- You participate in the on-call escalation rotation. We strive to minimize disruptions during off-hours, so we focus on ensuring our systems are fault-tolerant. When alerts do occur, we collaborate to identify and resolve the root cause to prevent recurrence.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or 5+ years of equivalent technology experience.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented. Must be capable of interacting with and influencing individuals at all levels.
- Previous experience on a Security Operations team or experience coordinating responses to security incidents.
- Demonstrated ability to autonomously utilize excellent project management skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of internet security issues and the threat landscape.
- Experience with virtualization technologies; familiarity with AWS and GuardDuty services is particularly valued.
- Strong understanding of web protocols and in-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
- Comprehensive background in host, network, and application security.
