Job Description

Civipol is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Financial Crime Liaison Specialist in our team. This position will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts to combat financial crime and promote a safer financial system.

Primary Objectives
  • Ensure effective coordination with the Financial Stability and Technical Assistance (FSTA) unit as a key regional actor.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive programme of work to support the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG).
  • Support the FSTA unit and ESAAMLG in organising and delivering joint activities.
  • Engage with regional partners to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop new tools and innovative approaches to support ESAAMLG's efforts to combat financial crime.
  • Draft terms of reference for activities with short-term experts and oversee their implementation.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to ESAAMLG, including stakeholder management and liaison with regional partners.
  • Represent the FSTA unit and programme in the Southern and Eastern regions, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Required Profile
  • Hold a degree in a relevant field, such as law, law enforcement, or a related discipline.
  • Have at least ten years of experience in the criminal justice system, including FIU analysis, investigating or prosecuting money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation offences.
  • Demonstrate expertise in AML/CFT frameworks and systems, as well as the ability to conduct thorough analysis and make recommendations.
  • Have excellent communication and report writing skills, with the ability to articulate ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Be proficient in MS Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
