Role Overview:
We are seeking a Project Planning Manager within our Planning team. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are developed and maintained on schedule to fulfill our commitments to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with a Senior Project Planning Manager or Sub-System Manager, who oversees time management for their area, to provide accurate time management data that supports decision-making aimed at achieving the expected On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance for projects.
- Develop and maintain the internal project schedule for your designated area.
- Efficiently manage the issuance of planning deliverables.
- Facilitate synchronization among internal stakeholders.
Tasks Include:
- Contributing to the Project Time Management Plan established by the Senior Project Planning Manager.
- Creating the project schedule for your area based on internal standard Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), contractual objectives, and data from all stakeholders.
- Working with the Finance Project Manager on Earned Value Management.
- Participating in the validation of the project baseline.
- Ensuring consistency among all internal and external stakeholder commitments while managing schedule interfaces.
- Conducting schedule analysis and trade-offs to address identified gaps or issues.
- Organizing and leading regular project schedule meetings for your area.
- Providing timely updates on the schedule status, highlighting discrepancies between actual performance and the baseline.
- Focusing on the early identification of potential delays, including critical paths, and monitoring risks and margins related to the schedule.
- Preparing schedule and progress reports.
- Supporting the sub-system manager with all matters related to the sub-system project schedule.
- Applying the Project Scheduling Process.
- Promoting awareness of time management practices within the project team.
- Contributing to lessons learned and improvements, sharing best practices and schedule templates.
Performance Metrics:
- Regular and consistent updates to the schedule, including analysis of potential delays.
- Timely delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs) and planning documents.
- Standard metrics to measure schedule robustness.
Essential Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Engineering degree (mandatory).
Experience:
- Project management and industrial experience (mandatory).
- Familiarity with internal processes such as tenders, projects, engineering, industrial operations, sourcing, supply chain, and quality management (mandatory).
- Experience in project scheduling is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
- Comprehensive knowledge of railway products and a solid understanding of the sub-system.
- Ability to manage schedule simulations, various scenarios, and evolving project objectives.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong team-oriented approach.
- Capability to manage conflicts and multitask effectively.
- Collaborative management style.
- Ability to challenge the sub-system team and proactively propose solutions.
