As an Operational Security Engineer, you will be tasked with fostering operational excellence in all our endeavors. Research and Development
As a member of our team, you will participate in an on-call rotation to provide essential support for the Security Operations team.
Your role will also include conducting research to bolster our security posture and enhance operational efficiency through metrics and various data analyses.
Incident Management
You will play a crucial role in developing and refining incident and change management protocols within the security domain.
Your responsibilities will encompass driving initiatives aimed at improving existing tools and processes, as well as offering insights on new practices and procedures to keep pace with the rapid growth of the Amazon platform and its customer base.

On-Call Responsibilities
This role entails on-call escalation duties.

- You are an experienced engineer who engages independently with product and system owners to create, build, and innovate security operations.
- You contribute to the strategic vision for your team, effectively partnering with customers and stakeholders. You establish a roadmap and successfully deliver engineering solutions that realize that vision.
- You can independently make short-term versus long-term decisions, defining clear goals and objectives, and prioritizing projects accordingly.
- You proactively identify risks, bringing them to the attention of your manager, customers, and stakeholders with mitigation plans before they become obstacles.
- You communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences, crafting narratives and strategic documentation.
- You collaborate successfully with customers, leaders, and other engineering teams.
- You define metrics to assess customer experience, solution quality, and operational excellence.
- Your team maintains customer engagement mechanisms, adheres to service level agreements, and effectively manages operations.
- You review new and ongoing security mitigations, analyzing proposed paths forward and making rapid course corrections.
- You align short-term requirements with long-term investments, consistently measuring innovation impact and proposing creative solutions.
- You identify gaps by continually challenging norms, as even minor innovations can lead to significant operational improvements for customers.
