We invite you to join our team at Airbus, a global leader in the aerospace industry, where innovation and digital transformation are at the forefront. Our Centre de Recherche et Technologies (CRT) is seeking a talented PhD researcher to contribute to the development of advanced materials, specifically carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP).
The successful candidate will be based primarily at Pessac (Université de Talence) and will have the opportunity to visit our facilities at Airbus Technocampus in Nantes and Toulouse Saint Martin. The research will focus on developing innovative and sustainable solutions for carbon fiber production, with a reduced environmental impact, improved economic efficiency, and enhanced health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a thorough review of the current state of the art in carbon fiber sourcing, processing, and characterization.
- Develop and optimize the parameters for carbon fiber production, including filage and carbonization.
- Characterize the properties of the produced carbon fibers using various techniques, such as microscopy, calorimetry, and chromatography.
- Model the pyrolysis mechanisms and optimize the conditions for carbon fiber production.
- Collaborate with our team to integrate the developed carbon fibers into composite materials and evaluate their properties.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of materials processing, characterization, and modeling.
- Experience with experimental techniques, such as microscopy and chromatography.
- Proficiency in programming languages, such as Matlab and Python.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Language Skills:
English: Advanced
French: Intermediate minimum
