ROLE OVERVIEW
The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions for electrical system specifications and ensuring their upkeep. This position involves managing special projects and serving as a subject matter expert across various facilities. The individual will also be responsible for coordinating energy efficiency initiatives across multiple locations while actively monitoring energy performance metrics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the planned and preventive maintenance of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment at relevant manufacturing sites, ensuring optimal and dependable operation of all electrical assets.
- Lead and engage in the analysis, design, programming, integration, testing, and commissioning of both new and existing electrical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on electrical engineering and capital investment projects.
- Assist in the deployment of energy management strategies, working closely with pertinent stakeholders.
- Conduct audits and recommend best practices for the maintenance and operation of electrical systems.
- Create and deliver training sessions for the engineering team on electrical engineering and energy management topics.
- Engage with local and international manufacturers, suppliers, and system integrators to procure services, explore new technologies, and arrange maintenance and repairs.
- Implement standardization across systems and optimize resource utilization to ensure high service levels.
- Develop and maintain energy models to forecast energy consumption and identify areas for enhancement.
- Participate in the optimization of energy costs and production schedules.
- Analyze energy metrics and communicate site energy performance to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance, analysis, and support in the development and implementation of energy management tools and methodologies aimed at reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize energy projects.
- Advise the engineering team on the selection and commissioning of new machinery and equipment in accordance with established standards.
- Offer documented insights to enhance the understanding of the energy network and the design of new installations.
- Support various plant activities to enhance energy efficiency.
- Define, design, develop, monitor, and optimize the energy management program for the plant in a systematic and professional manner.
- Implement energy best practices and processes.
- Train operators, maintenance personnel, and users on methods for more efficient energy consumption.
- Contribute to the performance of system and diagnostic energy audits as part of the energy audit team.
- Provide energy budget forecasts to facilitate accurate financial planning.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Implementation of TEC Foundation (M07)
- Energy Progress missions are established.
- Goals for reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions are integrated into the Factory Master Plan.
- Energy Progress plans are developed and executed based on LEAN Michelin Energy approach analyses and studies.
- An energy awareness initiative is in place for all employees, supported by the Activity Management team.
- The internal carbon price is factored into the MRI calculations for each project with a carbon impact.
- Continuous improvement is achieved regarding energy consumption and carbon emission levels.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment;
- Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting, is a plus;
- Familiarity with high voltage operating devices and safety protocols is advantageous;
- Experience in the design and maintenance of electrical distribution systems is valued;
- Strong communication skills in English and Sinhala, along with excellent interpersonal skills.
