We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer in Analytical Chemistry to join our team at IMT Mines Alès. The successful candidate will have experience in the analysis of organic compounds using chromatographic techniques and theoretical and practical skills in GC-MS and in techniques for preparing trace VOCs/SVOCs samples in the air and/or in materials.

The position is part of the MISTRAL research project, funded by ADEME and conducted in partnership with CSTB. The new "AGEC" law and the new regulations on the management of products, equipment, materials, and waste require the eco-organisations responsible for collecting and sorting these "PEMD" to draw up a list of hazardous substances likely to limit re-use, recyclability, or the incorporation of recycled materials into construction products and materials in the building sector.

The candidate will have experience in the analysis of organic compounds using chromatographic techniques and theoretical and practical skills in GC-MS and in techniques for preparing trace VOCs/SVOCs samples in the air and/or in materials. The position is a 13-month, full-time, fixed-term contract, governed by public law and subject to the provisions of the Institut Mines-Télécom management framework, profession R, Research and Development Engineer, category II.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a project that aims to develop exhaustive or specific sampling and analysis methods for trace organic pollutants (VOCs and SVOCs) in the air and at the material/air interface. The candidate will also have the opportunity to promote the results in the form of publications in international scientific journals and presentations at conferences.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual who is passionate about analytical chemistry and has a strong background in chromatography and GC-MS. The candidate should have a PhD in analytical chemistry or a related field and experience in the analysis of organic compounds using chromatographic techniques.

The position is located in Pau and is associated with IPREM laboratory (UMR CNRS 5254). The RIME team is a research team that focuses on materials-environment interactions and is part of the C2MA centre at IMT Mines Alès.
