Daily Responsibilities:
In your role as a National Editorial Specialist within the National Marketing and Communications Team, you will play a crucial part in supporting and implementing marketing and business development strategies aimed at enhancing the visibility of the Marsh McLennan Companies brand. You will also collaborate closely with our business line and growth marketing teams to develop, execute, and manage various marketing initiatives, both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Edit and proofread written materials for precision, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Ensure compliance with the company's editorial style guide, including AP style, while maintaining consistency in tone and writing style.
• Develop a deep understanding of and advocate for the company's voice and brand narrative in all written communications.
• Assist in the regular review and enhancement of the company's editorial and writing style guide.
• Verify facts, references, and sources to uphold accuracy and credibility.
• Collaborate with content creators to enhance content flow, readability, and overall quality.
• Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for content improvements, including restructuring and rephrasing.
• Exercise sound judgment and make editorial decisions to clarify ambiguities and elevate content quality.
• Utilize generative artificial intelligence judiciously and in accordance with company best practices.
• Initiate the compliance review process and document compliance requirements for future content development.
• Act as an in-house expert on AP style and the company's editorial standards.
• Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and evolving editing methodologies.
Ideal Candidate:
We are eager to connect with you if your professional background includes:
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in copyediting.
• A Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise as a copyeditor, with a strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Familiarity with editorial style guides, particularly AP style.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify errors and inconsistencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Teams, email, and online Microsoft applications, enabling effective teamwork in a remote setting.
• Capability to work autonomously and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficiency in productivity software such as Microsoft (required), Smartsheet (preferred), and Wrike (preferred).
• Enthusiastic about utilizing AI and adapting to new applications of AI over time.
• A positive attitude and creative problem-solving skills.
