About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD candidate to join our team at the Institut Curie Research Center in Paris, France. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment, working on a CIFRE thesis grant with Sanofi.

The project focuses on deciphering the dialogue between stromal cells and immune cells in cancer, with a specific emphasis on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) and their role in T-cell exclusion. The candidate will explore human tumor lesions using multiplex imaging and spatial transcriptomics, and test the effects of CAF targets on T-cell dynamics and tumor lysis using CRISPR and a human tumor spheroid/CAF system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on the role of CAF in T-cell exclusion and develop new strategies to target the stromal compartment in tumor lesions.
  • Explore human tumor lesions using multiplex imaging and spatial transcriptomics.
  • Test the effects of CAF targets on T-cell dynamics and tumor lysis using CRISPR and a human tumor spheroid/CAF system.
  • Evaluate the therapeutic potential of therapies targeting fibroblasts and checkpoint blockade in preclinical models.
Requirements
  • M2 degree in immunology, molecular and cellular biology, or biotechnology.
  • Experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, and animal experimentation.
  • Knowledge of human immunology, oncology, and immunotherapy.
  • Scientific rigor, excellent analytical and synthesis skills, and a dynamic personality with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
